Ronaldo demands 250% pay increase, but insists he isn’t greedy....

On Saturday Cristiano Ronaldo refused to celebrate his two goals for Real Madrid in a 3-0 win against Granada, and then after the match claimed he was unhappy, everyone was keen to find out what was the at the root of his discontent, and it’s no surprise that it’s because he feels he isn’t being paid enough.
Yes it seems 10 million a year simply isn’t enough for Ronaldo, and that’s before you include sponsorship, endorsements etc, ok let’s try and introduce a little objectivity into this debate, he’s scored 150 goals in 149 games for Madrid and has helped them win the league, cup, and super cup and has been their best player by miles.
Ok he’s done the business on the pitch he wants a pay rise fair enough, how much of an increase 10%, 20%, no not even close 250%, yep that’s right Ronaldo wants his current deal worth 10 million a year to jump to around 25 million a year, or roughly 500k a week, which most of us mere mortals are lucky to earn in 25 years.
I think to put a stop to this madness UEFA, FIFA and the owners, presidents and managers of Europe’s biggest and wealthiest clubs should hold a summit and put guidelines in place about wages, and agree not to pay any player whether it be Messi, Ronaldo etc, anymore than let’s say 100k a week. (They should do the same with transfer fees as well but that’s for another day)
That way if a player says if you don’t increase my wages and pay me x-amount I’ll leave, the board can say fine but that’ll mean you won’t be able to play in at any of Europe’s top clubs due to the wage agreement.
Then they will face a choice, you can either stay where you are and be happy with what you’ve got, or leave and play in Russia or the Middle East where you can earn the amount you want but play in a sub-standard league, this way players won’t be able to hold their clubs to ransom and squeeze every last penny out of them for their own self-indulgence.
If Ronaldo gets his way (which let’s be honest he probably will) it will give players too much power and render clubs incapable of doing anything other than caving and paying players whatever they want.
If Ronaldo doesn’t think he’s being greedy asking for this amount in a time of worldwide economic uncertainty then he has shown himself to be a deluded moron.
