Paolo Di Canio a "great move" for Sunderland

Paolo Di Canio will be “fantastic” for Sunderland, according to the man who gave him his first managerial job.

“At the end of our games it was pure box office,” said former Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray. “It is a great appointment for him and a fantastic appointment for Sunderland.”

The Black Cats handed former Swindon boss Di Canio, 44, a two-and-a-half year deal on Sunday, after previous manager Martin O’Neill was sacked after a run of poor results.

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season I urge all football fans to keep one eye on Sunderland because, the entertainment factor is guaranteed to be a ten.

Wray is spot on Di Canio is box-office and will bring a much needed spark to the touchline, obviously you have to feel for Martin O’Neill but he has looked like a beaten man recently.

I hope Sunderland do stay up, then I want Mourinho to return to the Premier League and finally I want Ian Holloway and Crystal Palace to win promotion for next season, then things really would be interesting.
