Ross County and St
Johnstone have apologised for not observing a minute’s silence ahead of their
Scottish Premiership matches on Saturday.
In a statement issued on
Remembrance Sunday, County said the issue was “an error of omission arising
from a failure to address changes in staff responsibilities”.
The St Johnstone apology
referred to “an oversight”.
I think that’s a little
bit more than an oversight, although it must also be pointed out that only two
of the six matches in Scotland bothered to have a minute’s silence, why?
How hard is it to arrange
for few thousand, sorry hundred, Scottish fans to put their beers and
deep-fried mars bars down and stand silently for a minute to honour those who fought
in the First World War?
Clearly very hard because
only two of six games managed to do it, shows a shocking lack of respect and
digs the already vast pit that Scottish football has sunk into even deeper.
