EDF to raise energy prices by 3.9%

EDF Energy has said average gas and electricity price will rise by 3.9%.

The company, one of the UK's big six energy suppliers, is the latest provider to raise bills, but it says its rise is “half” that of its rivals.

This just proves that energy companies take the piss because all of them so far have announced rises of more than double the 3.9% rise  EDF are planning.

Either EDF deliberately delayed announcing a rise to under-cut its rivals and seem quite reasonable, or, and this is what I suspect is the real reason, they’ve watched as the others have hiked prices, seen the massive negative reaction and thought hmm this year we won’t be able to get away with robbing people blind, let’s ease off a bit and make ourselves look the best of a bad, bad bunch.

The gentleman burglar if you will.
