Sesame Street characters Cookie Monster and Elmo are to star in a new
programme for CBeebies.
BBC Newsnight's Emily Maitlis "interviewed" Cookie Monster
about his defection to the BBC.
She gave the character the last word to end Monday's edition of
Newsnight.
I urge you to watch the video of this because it’s rather funny in a farcical
kind of way, but I really don’t see what the point of it was.
Ok so Cookie Monster and Elmo have a new kids show coming to CBeebies
and the BBC thought the best way to advertise this was to get the Cookie
Monster a 30 second spot at the end of Newsnight.
Obviously that’s the best way to get the message across to all the kids
eager to tune in and see this new show . . . . . .
What amazes me is that nobody thought hmm maybe this is a fecking stupid
idea and we shouldn’t do it, I’m sure when somebody said let’s get Cookie
monster on Newsnight it was funny and everyone in the room had a good laugh,
but that’s where it should have ended.
What next is Jeremy Paxman going to show up on CBeebies and talk about
University Challenge or the situation in Syria? Judging by this I wouldn’t rule
it out.
