Sebastian Vettel criticises ‘absurd’ F1 double points plan

Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has criticised plans to award double points for the final race of the season from 2014.

The winning driver of next year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will earn 50 points instead of 25 under the proposals.

“This is absurd and punishes those who have worked hard for a whole season,” said the 26-year-old, who won the final nine races in 2013.

“Drivers, fans and experts are horrified.”

I applaud Vettel for using his position as World Champion to come out and criticise this stupid idea of giving double points for the final race, I can’t think what on earth possessed the powers that be in the sport to give this proposal the go ahead.

In fact I still don’t know why they changed the points system a few years ago so you now get 25 for a win instead of the 10 you used to.

I think the whole idea of this is to make it more exciting and unpredictable but I don’t think it will, and all it’s done so far since it was announced is piss everyone off.

But as there is plenty of time left to scrap it so fingers crossed.
