Liverpool fans Beware

I’ll start off by declaring my allegiances, I’m an Arsenal fans always have been always will be, and while I was delighted at our 0-2 win at Anfield yesterday, I am amazed at the situation that Liverpool find themselves in.
They appointed new manager Brendan Rogers, who is a good manager no question, but has only one season of Premier League experience and then despite knowing the one area they needed to invest in was up top, they didn’t buy anyone and actually loaned out their record signing, who coincidentally happens to be a striker.
Instead they spent £15m on Joe Allen..... and £10m on Fabio Borini....... hardly the calibre of signings that befit Liverpool, Borini looks ok but he doesn’t appear to be a clinical or natural goal scorer and Allen is an expert at passing the ball sideways.
Yet I keep hearing how he is a great passer of the ball and how he will add to Liverpool, erm no, he completes a lot of passes yes, but that’s because he never attempts one over 10 yards, it was like last season when a stat came out saying Swansea’s Leon Britton was a more accurate passer and by definition better than Xavi. (seriously)
Of course you’re going to be more accurate when you never attempt a risky pass, and I know which one of the two I’d rather have in my team, and if anyone brings up another stat like that this season I will very accurately and continuously pelt footballs at them until they die a slow painful ironic death.
Xavi is one of the greatest midfielders ever to play the game and has won everything, comparing him to Britton is like comparing a Smart Car with a Ferrari.
Liverpool aren’t without options they can still sign a striker on a free transfer, now let’s think who is a striker who can score 20+ for the season and still has a good few years ahead of him......nope can’t think of anybody.
Rogers hasn’t ruled out brining back Michael Owen who was a great player but he was finished years ago, or they could grovel to West Ham and get Carroll back, either way it’s a pretty bleak outlook.
Sadly if you’re a Liverpool it seems your destined for another season of disappointment, league wise, Suarez is too wasteful and Gerrard doesn’t look like he’s up for carrying the side for another season.
How a situation like this has been allowed to happen at such a great club I don’t know (although it could be worse look at Rangers), I’m just glad and relieved that when I read a story about a crisis at a big club they’re no longer talking about Arsenal anymore, hopefully we’ll bloody win something this season.
