Britain urges EU change to free migration rules

Britain wants to change the rules governing the free movement of people across the EU, Home Secretary Theresa May will tell European ministers.

Mrs May will speak in Brussels, ahead of the lifting of movement controls on Bulgarians and Romanians.

She says free access to labour markets must not be allowed to lead to "mass migration".

As Labour admitted they botched the governing of EU migration in 2004, it’s a bit late now for Mrs May to be lobbying the EU to make changes now on the eve that controls will be lifted on Romania and Bulgaria.

Instead running round like a blue arsed fly and trying to force through a last minute rule change, which has about as much chance of succeeding as Man United do of winning the Premier League, thought I’d work that one in there, Mrs May and the rest of the government should be spending their time enacting proper immigration reform so that the lifting of controls would have minimal impact.

But as no government has shown any competence with regards to introducing immigration reforms in the last 10 years, why should we expect this current government to be any different, I mean it's not like they came into power promising to do so . . . . .
